It is on occasions difficult to get hospital staff to use the correct waste bin, and sometimes to use a waste bin at all! But a shocking report from China tells of a newborn baby found on a waste tip.

The newborn child was discovered by tip worker Ao Dengxue in the Guizhou province of China after the baby’s father had allegedly dumped his daughter in a bin because she wasn’t a boy.

‘I found a big trash bag, containing a baby girl,’ said Ao.

‘Her face was blue but she was still breathing.’

The child was missing for missing for 17 hours, and was lucky to be found. 

The abandoned child’s father has been arrested on suspicion of burying the baby in the bin.
