NHS commits to 50% reduction of carbon emissions from waste

NHS has committed to reducing carbon emissions from waste by 50 per cent by 2025/26, and to save £11 million annually in recurrent revenue costs through new waste management practices by 2033.

True or false?

Well, it remains to be seen but I won’t hold my breath for this. The NHS has committed to reducing carbon emissions from waste by 50 per cent by 2025/26, and to save £11 million annually in recurrent revenue costs through new waste management practices by 2033. Looking through the key proposal document, it’s full of “good words”, but no real substance.

I can imagine, from what I read and what I hear that central to the process will be ever more rigorous at the point of disposal. Can you imagine doubling the number of waste containers to be accommodated in every ward and department, a read struggling for space.
