Recycling bins outside the Red Lion pub in Hendy, Carmarthenshire, have been removed after clinical waste was dumped in them. Glass recycling bins were taken away by the council after bags marked clinical waste were found in them.
“Carmarthenshire Council has investigated the incident – of course – and found no evidence of where the waste came from or who was responsible for putting it in the recycling bin.
“The bottle banks were put in place after doorstep collections of glass were stopped three years ago, when the council deemed glass too dangerous to be handled by collectors.

I guess this is the problem. Where services are not provided to communities, waste gets dumped in places where it is not wanted. It’s a simple lesson that is surely of no surprise to anyone.
And in this particular case, it seems that the Local Authority may have tried to play teh Health & Safety card to withdraw services – whoever heard of glass collections being suspended as it was too dangerous for staff?
Perhaps Carmarthensire is right, and everywhere else in the UK has got it wrong. Somehow, I doubt it!
