Waste Energy Partners want to launch the service in the Moorfield Industrial Park, near Braehead Foods, if an application gets the green light from East Ayrshire Council.

he firm aims to handle up to two tonnes of clinical waste every hour, generating power from the process.

Hazardous waste would be among the material processed.

The developer said there is a demand for a waste disposal service from Crosshouse Hospital and the towns of Kilmarnock, Irvine and Ayr.

A document lodged with the council said: “The facility will operate 24 hours per day.
