An ‘adult diaper lover’ terrorised local nurseries by dumping soiled nappies outside their gates. Abbi Taylor, 46, also known as Martin Tarling, identifies as a woman and finds ‘comfort’ in climbing into clinical waste bins.
Taylor also smears excrement onto milk bottles and onto the walls of nurseries, prosecutors said. For the staff at the nurseries, the six year ordeal dating back to 2019 was ‘horrifying’ and left them feeling ‘anxious and uncomfortable’ according to Recorder Richard Herrmann, sitting at Newcastle Crown Court.
The court heard Taylor is thought to be ‘regressing’ to childhood and searching for a ‘gentler more carefree time’. Bemused staff at Cleadon nursey caught sight of Taylor’s legs sticking out of a bin in May 2023 close to where nappies were left. Jane Foley, prosecuting, said the manager at a South Shields nursery reported seeing someone rooting around inside’ one of the clinical waste bins in January 2023.
While staff at a nursery in Jarrow initially believed a rival business might be dumping waste on their premises, when they found up to 50 soiled nappies on site.
Recorder Herrmann acknowledged Taylor’s troubled childhood, saying: ‘Taylor has a very unfortunate history.’ Taylor from Newmarket Walk, South Shields, South Tyneside, pleaded guilty to three counts of dumping bags of toxic materials – nappies containing human waste – at nurseries in the local area.
The sentence will be passed on Thursday.
