It seems that there is nowhere free for the occasional dumping of clinical wastes.
Though in the UK, it is most commonly drug paraphernalia that might be found in a churchyard. However, in Durban, SA, large quantities of soiled adult nappies, injection needles and bloodstained bandages were discovered by congregants of the All Saints Anglican Church in Bellair in their churchyard at the weekend.
The risks are considerable. Especially in a country where disease rates are so high, dealing with this fly-tipped waste is costly and dangerous – and the guy in the photograph is clearly unprepared for the risks that he may encounter!
