A Taunton, Mass, man has allegedly stolen dirty needles from Morton Hospital emergency room. After he allegedly stole the used needles from a hospital examination room, the man is being cited for destruction of property!

A strange charge perhaps, since the needles would have been destined for destruction anyway, but such is US law. And note the bit of journalistic licence, substituting ‘dirty’ for ‘used’ needles!

“The attending nurse told police she momentarily left the room to consult with a physician and that when she returned Miraglia was gone.

She also said the medical waste container on the wall had been cracked open and emptied of used hypodermic needles and possibly some quantity of unused narcotics, according to police.”
