It is a sad indictment of the ‘lets get fit and go to the gym to flex our muscles’ brigade that needles are becoming a standard, and increasing accepted part of gym kit.

Illicit tanning products and steroid injections are now so common, gyms are away with illicit drugs and needles. It seems certain that the need for sharps bins in the toilets of most gyms will spread to become almost universal. To prevent needle sharing and disease transmission, needle exchange schemes will have to adapt.
