Man jailed for post office hold-up using hypodermic needle

A man has been jailed for more than five years after trying to hold up a post office with a hypodermic needle.

The man initially chatted about the weather before demanding cash at the shop in Armadale, West Lothian. However, he was foiled when the 63-year-old postmaster bravely challenged him with a baseball bat.

The 30 year-old, who admitted attempted robbery, was jailed for five years and three months at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday. The raid at the post office in Ochilview Square, Armadale took placed last December 14.
