Sita UK and Tradebe form clinical waste management company

Industrial waste management company Tradebe has signed a contract with resource management firm Sita UK to form a joint venture clinical waste management business.

Day to day running of the company – Tradebe Healthcare Holdings Ltd – will be managed by Tradebe and will offer specialist collections and disposal services for chemically and biologically contaminated material and sharp implements.

The company will operate three high temperature incinerators and six alternative technology facilities for standard ‘orange bag’ waste.

Spanish owned Tradebe’s clinical waste division – Tradebe Healthcare – was formed in January 2011, with the purchase of Doncaster-based Britcare, in a deal worth in excess of £3.5 million. The company then strengthened its healthcare offering with the purchase of Ecowaste Southwest, which is headquartered in Avonmouth, in August 2012.

It currently operates from sites in Doncaster, Birmingham and Bristol, as well as operating the Fawley hazardous waste incinerator in Hampshire, and has a licensed treatment capacity of 35,000 tonnes per year.
