‘Unholy’ incinerator at Holy Family Hospital

It is reported that the faulty incinerator at the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi  has been emitting toxic gases.

Located close to the staff residences, the incinerator is used for clinical wastes and is now he focus of widespread complaint.

  1. It is reported now that the incinerator received medical (clinical) waste from the Nuclear Medicine Oncology and Radiotherapy Research Institute (NORI), Railway Hospital and a few private hospitals in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Gujar Khan.

    Concerns regarding the composition and properties of incoming wastes now place serious doubts about the emission control performance, and give credence to concerns regarding the adverse health impact on patients and residents in the staff facility and elsewhere.
