Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Environment Agency England have published the new 3rd Edition (2013) of the WM2 guidance on Hazardous Waste: Interpretation of the definition and classification of hazardous waste
It can be accessed by following this link: WM2 Hazardous Waste Guidance.
The Complimentary Appendix D can also be found by following this link: Complimentary Appendix D
The documents contain no doubt much valuable information but, as with HTM 07-01, has become ridiculously bloated.
It now contains a vast amount of superfluous material – which might be used mischievously by the Environment Agency to impede permitting applications, but without scientific foundation – with various bits of theory and unnecessary complication that suggests someone has tried to read a textbook.
At first glance, it’s a little like a rather poor undergraduate essay, Crammed with every conceivable bit of information that the author/s can find it is thrown in not to help but to impress, whether its relevant or not. Regrettably, there are some technical and scientific errors – I’ve spotted a few already. So far, I have only found just a few, but these should have been picked up during proofreading.
