Girl treated in hospital after finding hypodermic needle in doll

A young girl has been treated in hospital after finding hypodermic needle in a doll.

Bizarrely, she had won the doll on a stall at the Skegness Crime Prevention Panel annual gala  in Tower Gardens. The event was being supported by Lincolnshire Police, a spokesman for whom said the matter is not being treated as a criminal incident.

They said the needle had a cap on the top and the child could have thought it  was a pen. “It appears the girl removed the cap then pricked her  finger when attempting to replace the top. The needle had been inside the doll’s  underclothes.

“This doll, together with another one – that has been checked and is fine –  were purchased at a car boot sale recently.

“The doll has been seized and the needle has been sent off for testing so  that the hospital know what the hypodermic contained and what risks, if any,  that poses to the child.

“Although an alarming incident for the family concerned, there are no  criminal offences.”

You simply couldn’t make it up!
