Will it fall? Hospital incinerator stack under scrutiny

Calgary hospital incinerator stackA hospital chimney stack ‘won’t fall down’, says Calvary Hospital’s chief executive Jo Williams, trying to allay fears a chimney at the hospital’s O’Connor House site may topple.

Ms Williams said the stack is not considered dangerous and maintenance staff monitor its condition.

Many hospitals had on-site incinerators for the destruction of clinical wastes, and though most of these have been disestablished many stacks remain. Some are used to service heating boilers and  steam generators, while others, like that one are now redundant.

Will it stand, or will it fall? What do you think?
