It’s always pleasing to help put the record straight, or more precisely to help others get it right.

In the piece Lies, damned lies, and statistics, we were hugely critical of the literature provided to describe and support the new Clinismart system. Following up on that piece, we emailed the Company involved to put the questions to the directly – anything less would have been unfair since our purpose was to correct rather than condemn.

It’s pleasing to report that the response received from the Clinismart manufacturer was entirely positive, accepting all of our points and confirming action to immediately correct and replace their web pages, literature and other promotional materials. Good on ’em!

It is quite appropriate that with this new product and different approach to clinical waste management at ward level, there should be further research. It should be a damn site better thought out that at present, with a better experimental approach and correct data interpretation and data presentation. As to questions of practicality of the device, the market will decide.
