Clinical wastes at the heart of the community #2

Another day, and another part of the Borough.

This time, sanitary/offensive wastes in a Tiger stripe bag and one plain yellow bag sit on the pavement! Presumably left to await collection by the Local Authority, there is every likelihood that the resident left them there to attract the attention of the roundsman who may well have driven past if nothing was immediately apparent.

One bag split – with a red bag inside – and some side wastes spilling from, though possibly not really associated with, these two sacks.

Hazardous wastes? That’s what the colour code tells us. Secure? Obviously not, but can we blame tthe householder. I think not.

An obviously poor standard of waste management, and hard on the producer who may not wish to have their waste sacks like this, outside a neat and well-kept property, identifying and singling them out as patients. This social role de-valorisation is unnecessary and obviously stigmatising, but can unfortunately be noted right across the UK. Local Authority collections of sanitary/offensive, sharps and clinical wastes from community producers must improve.
