The Health On the Net Foundation (HON) promotes and guides the deployment of useful and reliable online health information, and its appropriate and efficient use.
Created in 1995, HON is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, accredited to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. For twelve years, HON has focused on the essential question of the provision of health information to citizens, information that respects ethical standards.
A new 2011 HONCode logo signifying approval and compliance with the HONCode Principles is displayed on the site.
The Clinical Waste Discussion Forumis proud to have maintained the HONCode Principles from its creation and first registration on Mar 29 2006, and is committed to meet fully those standards into the future.
Update, October 2022
With considerable regret, we must report that Health on the Net (HON) is shutting down permanently at the end of 2022. Apparently due to funding issues, this leaves no recognised accreditation service policing the accuracy and reliability of web based sites such as ours.
We will continue to display the HonCode logo on this site but remind users that the HON service has now been discontinued.
