Lagos, Nigeria, isn’t the place where one might expect the highest standards of hygiene and infection prevention, or of probity. So it is perhaps no surprise to read this piece regarding untreated clinical wastes and sharps waste dumped in Lagos being salvaged and sent straight back to the wards for use for another unsuspecting patient.
Regrettably, this vile trade is not uncommon, in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa, in the Far East, and in South America.
