Two fisherman have made a grisly discovery on an island in the Amur River, near Khabarovsk in the far east of Russia, when they stumbled upon a severed hand.

Police were called and a search uncovered a bag containing 56 hands, some of them missing fingers. Officials believe the hands are “illegally dumped biological waste” from a forensic medical institution.
