Clinical Waste ForumClinical Waste Discussion Forum

The Clinical Waste Discussion Forum offers a focal point for the dissemination of information pertaining to any aspect of clinical waste management, a soapbox from which to share views and opinion, and a place to exchange practical knowledge and promote best practice.  Post news items, discuss policy, ask a question of others, or offer an answer based upon your own knowledge and experience.

The Forum is free, independent, non-commercial and non-political. It is open to anyone interested in, involved with or affected by the management of clinical waste and other healthcare wastes, from generation to end-disposal. We hope to provide an interface between producers of clinical wastes, individuals, nursing and other special interest groups, other healthcare staff, equipment manufacturers, waste management companies, representatives of government and government agencies, and all others with an interest in these areas.

Please select one of the discussion themes to view previous messages, or to post a new message:

Do not feel constrained by the "themes" listed above; additional themes will be added as required. Use the miscellaneous theme for any general matters, and for topics that do not sit comfortably elsewhere.

If you would like to suggest an additional theme for discussion, or have any other comments or suggestions, please contact the Forum Moderator.

Technical issues that may affect the Clinical Waste Discussion Forum

  1. Users of the Forum may experience difficulties replying to existing posts due to one of the default settings for Norton Internet Security 2005.

If you can access the Forum and read messages, but cannot scroll through messages using the [previous] and [next] options, and cannot [reply] to messages, make the following minor change to Norton Internet Security settings:

    - Open Norton Internet Security
    - select Configure
    - select Advanced
    - scroll down and uncheck the option "HTTP IIS SHTML Request"
    - press OK
    - press OK

Reload your web browser and enter the Forum again. This will fix the problem and allow normal operation of all the Forum functions.

  2. Users of the Forum may experience difficulties replying to existing posts due to one of the default settings for Norton Internet Security 2006.  Its the same problem as above, but the solution is accessible in a slightly different location with Norton 2006.

Note that upgrading from Norton 2005 to Norton 2006 will reset the default value.  If you had previously dealt with this issue, upgrading Norton Internet Security will
require that you change this value again:

    - Open Norton Internet Security
    - select Intrusion Protection
    -
    select Configure
    - select Advanced
    - scroll down and uncheck the option "HTTP IIS SHTML Request"
    - press OK
    - press OK

Reload your web browser and enter the Forum again. This will fix the problem and allow normal operation of all the Forum functions.
