South Africa - THE provincial Health Department has been accused of colluding with a medical waste disposal company to change its prices in a tender for a lucrative contract.

The accusation by Compass Waste Services, a Berlin-based company, is contained in a set of Bhisho High Court papers and is based on documents which the department submitted as its answering affidavit in a pending court case.

Compass wants the department to review its decision to award a R17million contract to Aesthetic Waste Services and is suing Health MEC Nomsa Jajula, the chairperson of the department’s bid committee and its rival, Aesthetic.
