In a follow-up news report to this story that appears in Recycle, complete with quotes from the Norfolk County Council cabinet member for Environment and Waste, and in a news brief from the Council itself, every opportunity is taken to tell of how good the recycling services are in Norfolk.
No opportunity is missed for self-praise, tempered with a strong message not to put needles into recyclable wastes. But information is missing on exactly what to do with needles, how to dispose of them safely, where to find further information etc.
We seem to concentrate too much on the negative, without providing a service that stresses the positive, provides information and addresses the issues to make these incidents less likely to occur. But I guess it's easier just to say No. What a missed opportunity.
