Doctors, nurses and health care staff were praised at the Oscar-style Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust's annual Celebrating Success Awards.
The top award in the Improving Staff Experience category went to a presentation about rubbish and recycling. Sue Scholefield, the trust's waste and sustainability officer, said new rules covering the disposal of all our waste had meant wide-sweeping changes had to be introduced to ensure the trust complied.
She said the early pilot schemes in the Huddersfield Family Birth Centre and paediatric units at Calderdale Royal Hospital had been successful.
There are now separate bins for infectious waste, hygiene waste and domestic waste, and there are plans to widen recycling in the dining rooms. [more]
Congratulations!
