I have grave concerns about the lack of environmental sense that consigns most sanitary and incontinence wastes ('offensive' waste) to holes in the ground.

Knowaste, and no doubt others, are offering to recycle disposable nappies so surely this should be the first thought for sanitary waste also. Paper fibres and plastic are separated, together with any absorbent polymeric additives. Water is removed, and the faecal residue is used for biogas production.

I have not examined the figures, nor have examined the process for safety, But it gets my vote.
