"A NURSING home was emptied in less than a week after government inspectors discovered its frail residents were left unchecked in dangerous, squalid conditions.
"All 16 pensioners were moved out of Lisnaveane Lodge, Lodge Avenue, Dagenham, days after inspectors unearthed a catalogue of health and safety breaches.
"The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) said it had found dirty bedrooms, lounges, unwashed bathrooms and overfilled clinical waste bins outside Lisnaveane Lodge.
It's a sad tale, and one that is perhaps not unique. Careless and unacceptable management of clinical wastes by nursing and care homes is far too common. Let's hope this case sends a strong message for others to improve.
