Job Purpose

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, it will be the responsibility of the job holder to concentrate on developing and securing additional business, to include clinical, pharmaceutical and offensive waste services.

Key customer target groups include but are not limited to: dental surgeries, care homes, nursing homes, GPs, health clinics, research facilities and tattoo studios.

Additional responsibilities will include the management and support of key accounts, up-selling wherever possible, whilst ensuring maximum potential profitability.

The role will include working within the Clinical Waste Team in the effective management and promotion of the Department’s Clinical Waste Services, whilst expanding the business and maintaining a high level of customer service; ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and guidelines.

Key Duties

  • Research, develop and secure new business opportunities for the clinical waste business, increasing revenue by selling the existing services and products offered, as well as developing new and innovative ideas.
  • Develop a cold calling strategy to maximise the potential revenue gain from a set geographical area.
  • Maximise revenue and profitability, working to achieve or better defined targets; formally reporting performance to the Commercial Manager on a monthly basis.
  • Follow up on leads, successfully convert enquiries and secure contracts to provide waste services.
  • Provide a high level of customer support, managing the relationship with the customer organisation.
  • Assist the Contract Manager/Account Manager to carry out regular reviews of each Key Account in terms of price, type of service, best value and profitability, as well as helping to ensure service performance meets or exceeds customers’ requirements.
  • Liaise with operational staff to ensure smooth running of collection services.
  • Update customers on new technology and processes, as well as relevant changes to legislation and compliance.
  • Organise and carry out any required presentations, exhibitions or other seminars that are required by the Company or Customer to help develop the business.
  • Promote the Contract Management and Total Waste Management concepts to prospective, new and existing customers.
  • Provide support to other clinical accounts as required.
  • Support other members of the Clinical Waste Department team.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures including health and safety and employment.
  • Full clean UK Driving Licence essential
