An exciting opportunity has arisen at a Derriford site for a Unit Manager, to coordinate and manage day-to-day operational activities and ensure that all on-site operations are carried out in safely and in compliance with relevant legislation.

This crucial role will lead sales processes with clinical waste producers within the South West Region and represent their company to build robust relationships with potential customers to develop their business at every opportunity; ensuring that their stakeholders are aware of and participating in the tender process wherever applicable.

The employer is looking for someone with the skills to lead and manage a team, preferably from a high pressure production or equivalent environment, and with extensive experience of the tender process, working with a large and varied customer base.

The ideal candidate will hold a Commercial Business qualifications or relevant Commercial Sales Experience. Experience within the Waste Industry is highly desirable, though not essential.

A Full Driving Licence is essential to the role.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for their customers, ensuring customer satisfaction, efficient service provision and presentation of a professional image.
  • Reporting of and ensuring compliance of customer waste streams; undertaking research and development for potential new contracts and customers. Ensuring that all customer documentation is of high quality and consignment notices are issued in line with prevailing legislation.
  • Providing sales and related financial reports, and maintaining the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Setting Key sales and income targets and promoting and selling the companies services to waste producers across the South West and further afield if practical.
  • Identifying tenders and contracts that will fit within the existing portfolio, where required request PQQs and ITTs in a timely manner and assist in the completion of the relevant documents.
  • Ensure that all transport operations are conducted safely and in a manner that is fully compliant with legislation.

Skills / Experience:

  • Working with a large varied customer base.
  • Experience of working within a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Sales Experience or Commercial Business qualification.
  • Knowledge of Financial Reporting.
  • Detailed knowledge of tendering processes.
  • Previous supervisory/Managerial experience in an operational role or environment.
  • A Full Driving Licence is essential to the role.
