A drug addict who threatened to stab a security guard with a syringe when she was caught shoplifting has been spared prison because she has a nine-month-old son.
Lyndsey George, 22, tried to steal skin creams worth £258 from the Swinton branch of Boots in order to sell to fuel her heroin addiction. When challenged by a security guard she claimed she had £400 in her purse to pay for it. But she then pulled a syringe from her pocket, telling the security guard: ‘I’m sure you’re a nice guy but I’m going to do what I have to do.’
Manchester Magistrates Court heard she then moved towards the guard, waving the empty syringe, as she said: ‘I am going. If you try to stop me I will stab you.’
