Medical waste proposal withdrawn
Daniels Sharpsmart, the international company that was seeking to build a medical waste treatment facility at Route 20 and Cherry Street, has withdrawn its plans after a public hearing last week where many angry residents spoke against the project.
Daniel R. Kennedy, a vice president for the company’s North America division, sent a letter to Town Manager Daniel J. Morgado yesterday. “Following the recent public meeting before the town of Shrewsbury’s Planning Board and as a direct result of the now extended timeline required to achieve the required municipal regulatory approval for our proposed medical waste treatment facility, Daniels Sharpsmart Inc. has elected to withdraw its proposal,” the letter says.
