A court room drama, with real judge, lawyers and jury, featuring a real fatality from within the waste and resource industry.

Hinkley, Leicester 27 January 2010

Details and booking form at http://www.ciwm.co.uk/mediastore/FILES/18419.pdf

The IOSH Environmental and Waste Management Group and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management H&S SIG have come together to bring a mock trial to show what really happens in the aftermath of a fatal accident in the waste sector.

This is courtroom drama at its best. Experience what it feels like to be in the dock when your health, safety and environmental policies are minutely examined. Discover firsthand what could happen to you and your business after a serious accident, including the trauma of losing a colleague and dealing with bereaved families, and the worry of being interviewed under caution and then cross-examined in the dock.

See barristers present the prosecution and defence cases using real-life scenarios, meet a real judge and jury and hear the evidence first-hand  –  then decide the verdict for yourself.

The day will start at 09.30 with registration and refreshments, and there’ll be plenty of opportunities to network and speak to the experts over lunch. Finish around 15.00.

The event is run in partnership with HBJ Gateley Waring and CIWM, and is supported by the HSE.

Confirmed attendees include Cory Environmental, WRAP, Shanks and Biffa.

There are limited places available, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
